It is with both sorrow and love that we celebrate the life of Lorenzo Moore, affectionately known as Renny, Renzo, and King Zo to those who knew him best. Born on March 19, 1996, in Chicago, IL, Lorenzo was an embodiment of ambition, humor, loyalty, and love. His journey on this Earth was one marked by resilience, laughter, and an unyielding dedication to those he loved.
Lorenzo was a man of many passions. He reveled in the thrill of basketball and football, enjoyed the strategic challenge of video and card games, and was an avid participant in outings with his loved ones. His robust laughter and ever-present smile were as contagious as they were comforting. Despite the hurdles he faced, Lorenzo was ceaselessly ambitious. He was just two credits shy of completing his high school education and had earned his forklifting license, with plans in place to obtain his CDL license. His achievements reflect his unwavering determination and his deeply ingrained belief that "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" (Eleanor Roosevelt).
Above all, Lorenzo was a man defined by love. Love for his children: Carmelo, Marciano, Lalaun, Brianna, and Deziyah. Love for his family: his parents, Robert Moore and Temorra Roberts; his brothers, Anton, Andrew, Terrance, and Jabari; his significant other, Monshana James; and the mother of his children, Shanterra Thomas. Love for his cousins: Wesley Patton, Malik Johnson, Ramelia Merritt, and Frederick Jeffery. This love was as fierce as it was tender, as everlasting as it was transformative.
Lorenzo was preceded in death by his cherished grandmother, Bettye Roberts; aunts Patrica and Sharron Roberts; and grandfather, John McKenzie. Their memory lived on in Lorenzo's heart and continues to thrive in the hearts of those who loved him. As William Shakespeare once wrote, "Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none."
A private family viewing will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm CDT at the Angelus Funeral Home, followed by a public visitation at 4:00 pm CDT.
