Constance White, who was affectionately called "Connie", was the second of seven children born to Margie and Leslie Green on February 10, 1941. She was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, Leslie Paul and Marvin Lloyd, and a sister, Jenine Ivy.
Constance was educated at Esmond Elementary School and Morgan Park High School. She attended Mt Calvary Baptist Church in Morgan Park. She was also a member of the choir and one of the soloist. She pursued her singing career as one of the lead singers of an all-girl singing group. And together, they recorded a single.
Constance's first job was at Walgreens, which was a family tradition. Connie later opened a soul food restaurant in Gary, IN called Family Affair. Her strength was drawn from her passion in life, which was cooking (and drinking beers).
In 1957, she met the love of her life and soulmate, Robert Handy White. The two were wedded on September 26, 1959 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. To this union were born four sons and four daughters, one of which, Hope Elaine White preceded her in death. Her grandson, Marcus White, also preceded her in death.
Constance and Robert made their home in Chicago, IL. Constance devoted her life to the care of her husband, children and grandchildren. Nothing would bring a smile to her face more than her children, grandchildren and her beloved dog "Scrappie."
