Sarah Jean Milan affectionately known as "Mama Jean", was born December 16, 1943 to the union of the late Abron Jackson and Helen Wilson in Como Mississippi. Sarah confessed her love for Christ at a young age. As a child, Sarah was a member of Mount Mariah Baptist Church of Como, MS. where she gave her life to Christ and accepted him as her Lord and Savior. She remained a faithful member until she moved to Chicago in 1966. Upon her move she became a member of New Eclipse Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Joseph White.
Sarah attended Zion elementary school and later attended Fredonia High School where she completed 12th grade. Sarah met and married Monroe Milan on January 12, 1960. To this union nine children were born, Mary Mitchell, Shirley Milan, (Deceased), Monroe Milan, Jasper Milan, Patricia Milan, Beverly Milan, Maurice Milan (Deceased), Michael Milan (Deceased). Arlanders Milan and she later had three additional children Juanita Milan, Vanessa Milan, Paula Milan.
She moved to Chicago in 1966 where she worked in a warehouse and later became a caregiver in the health care field. Sarah was a loving, kind, and gentle soul. Sarah loved listening to music, cooking, spending time with her family, bowling, and playing bingo.
