Rekeyia Brown Obituary

On April 27, 1961 God shined his love and tender mercy in the lives of Mary Alice Brown and Woodrow Brown, in the form of Rekeyia Antoinette Brown. An earth Angel. Both of her parents; great uncles and aunts, Cardell Sterling, Lannie Cooper, Rosa Lee Tyler, Fannie Clay and Willie Bea Adams; uncles and aunts, Brand, Cardell, Michael; andsister, Demettrius all preceded her in death.

Rekeyia B.K.A. "Tiny" and A.K.A. "Ms. Ricki", attended and graduated Mary C. Terrell Grammar School and Jean Baptiste Point DuSable High School, before furthering her education at Loop College City College of Chicago ( now known as Harold Washington College) earning her associates in Stenography in 1982.

Rekeyia Brown did not have a permanent church to call home. However, she supported many. understanding her spiritual being, Rekeyia read and studied her bible on a daily basis. She allowed God to use her for the betterment of others, ensuring that she would always abide by God's Rule.

Rekeyia B.K.A. "Tiny", met and fell in love with Wilmon B.K.A. 'Dude" at an early age. Tiny and Dude have been together for at least almost fifty years. Although they were not legally married, they were married by the joining of their hearts and the love they shared for one another.

Through this love, God blessed them with their bundle of joy, Alisha. Rekeyia and Alisha were more than just mother and daughter, they were fiends/sisters. Alisha was her one and only child. Rekeyia loved and honored her Shorty. Rekeyia left everyone with message, "Take care of my baby."

Ms. Ricki worked at ABC Currency on 41st & State Street and Currency Exchanges on North & Austin and Western & Lake for over 30 years. While at work she gained a daughter, Ericka Matthews and a host of awesome friends: Davina Felton Armstrong, Rebecca, Lorraine, Mrs. Carmen and Sharee. Multiple hours on the phone was spent among them on the regular.

Rekeyia has a host of people with whom she shared special bonds: Bertha Smallwoof whom she considered to be a second mother, Tina Newsom; her cousin/sister/friend, Hattie Mae Newsom; a special auntie, Gloria Glinsey, Mary Lou Bell, Angel Brooks, Jessica Walker, Jessie Epps, Linda Whitaker, Mary Franklin, Janet Perry, Debbie Morgan, Brenda Scott and Beverly Smallwood who both preceded her in death.

Psalm 89- " I will sing the Lord's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself. You said I have made a covenant with my chosen one." Rekeyia was called home by God to join his kingdom on December 21, 2019.
