Percy Evans was born August 19, 1943 in Sandhill, Mississippi to Finch and Pearl Evans. Percy was the seventh child of eight siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gladys (Cleo) Jones, his brothers Otis Evans (Beatrice), Earl Evans, and Arthur Evans (Dorothy).
Percy attended Pisgah Elementary School in Sandhill, Mississippi. He then attended Carter high School in Brandon, Mississippi. Upon completing school, Percy worked various jobs for a few years until he relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1964.
After moving to Chicago, Percy met the love of his life, Louise Miller. They were married October of 1966. To this union, Percy gained three stepchildren, two who preceded him in death, Shirley Rey and Debra Miller, and one grandson, Torrey Miller, who also preceded him in death.
Percy loved food and was a great cook. He was a butcher for Chicago Corn beef from 1964 until the early 1980's. His specialty was steaks and oxtail soup. He was an avid Blues and Soul music fan. His favorite singers were Howling Wolf and Otis Redding.
