Denise Marie Greer-Thompson

Denise Marie Greer - Thompson (Niecy) was born on July 7, 1971 to the union of Lillie Mae and James Moore in Chicago, IL. She was baptized at an early age at St. Mary’s Baptist Church. She spent the majority of her childhood in Cleveland, Ohio and attended West Tech and Glenville High Schools. When she was a young adult she returned to Chicago and lived with her older sister in the Robert Taylor Homes.

She was embraced and loved by the people she met there. People often described her as the pretty girl that talked proper.

Although Denise was educated in various Public Schools; she was very knowledgeable and studious in Independent Studies. She could hold her own and was confident discussing diverse topics, worldly issues, international and local affairs.

In the Early 90’s she met her soulmate, Ronald and they were inseparable. Denise and Ronald started their family and to this union Ronald and Shamar was born. During the demolition of the Robert Taylor Homes Buildings, they moved out and later decided to reside in Cleveland, Ohio where they were married and had their third son, Stephon.

In the early 2000’s the family decided to return back home to Chicago where they continued to establish their roots and the family began to grow. Denise loved her family and friends very much and welcomed many into their home. She delighted in hosting family gatherings and celebrations.

On February 17, 2024 Denise peacefully made her transition with her husband and family by her side. Denise is preceded in death by her parents, Lillie and James. Stepdad, Sam Greer. Sister, Brenda and Brother and Law, Calvin Johnson; Brothers: Ricky and Samuel Sr. and her beloved son, Shamar.

Denise leaves behind her husband Ronald, two sons: Ronald and Stephon. One god son, Ezell. Daughter in law, Shirley. Grandchildren: Kirstyn, Karmyn and Kilyn. Sisters: Regina (Robert) and Tarcella Moore. Brothers: Micheal (Jacqueline), Ronnie, Timmie and Jamie. Nieces: Renee and Erica; Nephew: Robert Jr. Mother in Law: Marsha. Sister In Laws: Kim, Margaret Ann and Marsha. A host of beloved relatives and friends.
